The Commons on Myrtle
The Commons on Myrtle is a 15-unit, one bedroom apartment complex for the mentally and physically disabled. Sustainable design strategies include the use of gray water for irrigation (the first gray water system approved in El Paso) and a solar thermal domestic hot water system. Acoustical design strategies include blown in cellulose insulation throughout, with staggered stud separation walls, self-leveling gypcrete floor topping, and resilient Z channels at all ceilings for structural sound attenuation. The project was awarded Designed to Meet the Energy Star and NAHB Silver ratings.
