Rio Grande Community Renovation
This project encompasses 4.09 acres and involves complete remodeling of the existing Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP) Rio Grande Memorial Complex. The complex was built in 1973 and has since received very little maintenance or renovation. The main scope of work involves removal and replacement of all existing electrical and plumbing fixtures, as well as all mechanical systems.
Due to the age and deterioration of the complex every single building, including the community center, requires complete asbestos abatement. For this reason, all existing interior drywall and exterior stucco is to be removed leaving only the foundation and structure of each building.
Our team has worked closely with the client and consultants to completely re-design and re-brand the complex, presenting a modern design with added structural elements and sustainable features. There are six different building types with four different designs in the existing complex, while our new design offers an unbroken aesthetic and color scheme, unifying the re-branded community.
