Sacred Heart Church
The Sacred Heart Church is one of the most historically and architecturally significant building in El Paso, Texas. It is in the heart of the Segundo Barrio. Built over a period from 1892 to 1923, this church complex of Rectory, Sanctuary and School has served the Catholic community on the south side of the city just blocks from the Rio Grande River. The facility houses Jesuit priests, it provides education for youth and adults, and satisfies religious functions for the area in daily lives and in time of great need. In the advent of the Segundo Barrio being approved for overlay by the National Historic Trust, WDA and their team of consultants were chosen to provide a thorough assessment and review of the entire complex for rehabilitation.
