Family and Youth Services Center
The County of El Paso Family and Youth Services Center is projected to be a 20,000 square foot facility designed as a county-wide mental health assessment center for conducting a multi-disciplinary approach for evaluation of children and families. The Center will include medical, general hygiene, dental, psychiatric, and other services, as well as functioning as a “One Stop Shop” for clients’ access to multiple social services, meeting rooms, and multi-purpose rooms. The premise of the Center is to receive children in crisis and provide a family-like nurturing environment to assist in stabilizing and calming these individuals.
The building will centralize the offices of the Border Children Mental Health Collaborative, the Juvenile Probation Department, Mental Health and Mental Retardation, and Child Protective Services.
The facility is designed with precast concrete tilt-up exterior walls, with some concrete interior walls and a steel column-and-beam structure. The building masses around an interior courtyard used for daylight strategy, circulation and activity space. This project is Designed to Earn an Energy Star, and complies with the standards of leading Green Rating systems. .
